UK Firms Lobby For US Online Gambling Legislation

Concerted efforts to legalize online gambling in the US are on in full swing and strongly backing these efforts are huge gambling firms in the UK like, SportingBet, Pokerstars and PartyGaming. They have gone to the extent of hiring lobbying institutions to put forth their case to the American Congress which has been reported by ‘The Telegraph’ a famous British newspaper.

UC Group which is a leading company that processes payments have spent over £3 million in trying to lure American politicians to get them consider the proposal. The huge amounts of money that have been spent by these gambling firms indicate that the American market is promising and is potentially rewarding. In UK some firms have been spending huge sums trying to influence British politicians, but since there is no law in Britain which demands disclose of these amounts the actual expenditure is never known, unlike US where the law demands that such expenditure is declared at the end of a financial year.

The grapevine along with speculation indicates that many American casino operators will be the most benefited with the change in law, as they will be given an advantage on licensing. UK forms have also forecasted that this could happen, and the huge amount of money that they are investing towards this cause is to ensure that this advantage is not given to the American casino operators.

The UC Group’s chief executive officer Kobus Paulsen, spoke to the telegraph magazine and indicated that they were sure that their efforts would pay off in the long run, and would give way to an open market for non-US based gaming operators to offer online casino games like online casino slots, roulette, poker and blackjack to name a few.
